This is my Stevia Treat
Cool recipe for low carb eaters.
I have a quick recipe for a light treat you may want to try. It’s like toast with cinnamon and sugar. I’ll explain how to make it, then a couple of additions and changes you may want to make.
What you’ll need:
1 Mission brand Carb Balance Fajita size tortilla
These are low carb tortillas. They come in 3 sizes, regular white or whole wheat – both have high levels of fiber. The white show 5g net carbs, which is 12g carbs total, but 7g dietary fiber. The whole wheat has 4g net, I think.
Ground cinnamon – any you like will do.
Powdered Stevia
I use Optimum Nutrition Stevia Powder. If you aren’t familiar with stevia, it is a plant extract that is sweet but non-caloric. It originated in South America, but has spread all over the world. In Japan, for instance, diet beverages use stevia as a sweetener.
Stevia has a slight aftertaste, but comes directly from nature. You could, of course, substitute nutrisweet (aspartame), or Splenda (sucralose), or even xylitol or sorbitol, which are low glycemic, not low carb.
Fry or butter the tortilla. If you are going for extremely low fat, use that butter spray.
Sprinkle on some cinnamon. Sprinkle on some stevia – just a little. Stevia is something like 500 times as sweet as sugar, so be frugal.
This makes a nice low carb snack. The tortilla even has 3 grams of protein.
You can also use these little tortillas for other things as well. I make tacos and quesadillas.
Enjoy, and come back for more of the best weight loss tips.
That's how you make a Stevia Treat!
